Choosing A Good Debt Management Agency If you are stuck in a bad credit situation, taking the help of a debt management plan might be a good idea. However be sure to check that the agency is registered and does not carry out unlawful activities that could harm you.
A debt management agency cannot force you into agreeing to any negotiation or plan. They are not allowed to pressurise you, either by constant calls or visits and are required to give you a period of two weeks to make up your mind. The debt management agency should also provide you with details of their fees up front and provide it in a written format before you agree to the plan. All such companies are regulated by a special Consumer Credit Act and in case they carry out unlawful practices, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Justice. Before you choose an agency, make sure they comply with the rules so you don’t face problems in future. |
